Royal Recap: Prince Harry of Wales visits Chile and Brazil, June 2014

Brazil

June 23 (Day 1)

Prince Harry arrived in Brazil to begin an official tour to strengthen British ties with Brazil and Chile. Upon arrival, he immediately went to Rede Sarah Hospital where he met patients, their families and medical staff {Source}. After visiting the hospital, he attended the FIFA World Cup match, Brazil vs Cameroon{Source}.

June 24 (Day 2)


Prince Harry  visited the Minas Tenis Clube which will be one of the venues for Team GB and Paralympics GB's training camp ahead of Rio 2016 {Video}. After visiting there, he attended a reception where British and Brazilian officials signed a memorandum of understanding for use of the club as a training camp {Source}. In the evening, Prince Harry attended the FIFA World Cup match of Costa Rica vs England{Source}. 

June 25 (Day 3)
Prince Harry continued his tour of Brazil by planting a tree in a rainforest {Source}. Prince Harry also visited the settlement of Cota{Source}. 

June 26 (Day 4)


On the fourth day of Prince Harry’s visit to Brazil, he met recovering drug addicts in a notorious Cracolandia in Sao Paulo to learn about an initiative, called Open Arms, which provides housing, food and work for the users in an area where crack cocaine is sold for 80p a rock {Source}. During his visit, he toured an open-air medical centre,  and street cleaning depot{Source}. When he left there, he headed for the Ayrton Senna Institute, where he met with Viviane Senna da Silva Lalli {Source}. Before departing for Chile, he recorded a message for the Brazilian people {Video}.
Chile
June 27 (Day 5)
The Prince began his official tour of Chile with a visit to a kindergarten class, where he toured the facility and played with children {Source}.He visited one of the classrooms at the Sagrada Familia Kindergarten{Source}. The young prince also attended a wreath laying ceremony at the monument of Chile's Founding Father Bernado O'Higgins in the Plaza de la Ciudadania (People's Square)  and met President Michelle Bachele {Source}. In the evening, he attended The Queen's Birthday Party at the British Ambassador's residence{Source}.
June 28 (Day 6)

Prince Harry  visited a Chilean community whose homes were destroyed by devastating wildfires - and fixed a family's television{Source}. He also visited with British Volunteer Firefighters in Chile, met with local British students and teachers at the British School, and met with retired firefighters {Source}. He also visited a local restaurant with the British Ambassador to Chile to watch the World Cup match between Brazil and Chile {Source}.

June 29 (Day 7)

On his final tour day, he visited a day centre for children with mental and physical disabilities {Source}. Afterward, he joined a group of children at an activity centre at the foothills of the Andes {Source}.
