Don Alfonso is a younger cousin of King Felipe VI and nephew of King Juan Carlos of Spain.

Due to current succession laws restricting the monarchy to just the descendants of King Juan Carlos, Don Alfonso is not in succession for the Spanish throne, however, he is in distant succession for the British throne as a descendant of Queen Victoria.
