Royal Profile: Prince Ernst August Andreas of Hanover

Prince Ernst August Andreas Philipp Constantin Maximilian Rolf Stephan Ludwig Rudolph of Hanover is the elder son of Prince Ernest of Hanover and Chantal Hochuli on born 19 July 1983 {Source}. He has one full brother, a sister-in-law, a half-sister, two stepbrothers and a stepsister, as well as a stepsister-in-law, and three step-nephews:

  1. Andrea Albert Pierre Casiraghi (1984)
  2. Prince Christian of Hanover (1985)
    1. Alessandra de Osma (m. 2018)
  3. Charlotte Marie Pomeline Casiraghi (1986)
    1. Raphaël Casiraghi-Elmaleh (2013)
  4. Pierre Rainier Stefano Casiraghi (1987)
    1. Beatrice Borromero-Casiraghi (1985, m. 2015)
      1. Stefano Ercole Carlo Casiraghi-Borromeo (2017)
      2. Francesco Carlo Albert Casiraghi-Borromeo (2018)
  5. Princess Alexandra Charlotte Ulrike Marym Virginia of Hanover (1999)

He was christened at almost two months old with the following godparents:

  • Prince Ludwig Rudolph of Hanover (his paternal uncle, 1955-1988)
  • Prince Andreas of Leiningen (his paternal uncle)
  • Princess Welf Henry of Hanover (his paternal great-aunt, first name Alexandra)
  • Philipp-Ernst, Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe
  • King Felipe VI of Spain
  • King Constantine II of Greece
  • Maximilian, Margrave of Baden
  • Rolf Sachs (friend of his father's)
  • Stephan von Watzdorf

He grew up primarily in England. He attended Malvern College and New York University, studying finance. He allegedly was caught experimenting with marijuana and hanging around with the "bad boys" during his time at Malvern, and his parents decided to send him to live with his father for a while to finish out his education. At the time, the blended Casiraghi-Grimaldi-Hanover family was residing in Fontainebleau, France, where there is a German School, which is the school he likely attended for at least one semester or he could've joined Andrea at The International School of Paris. For sure, I don't really know.

After graduating from NYU in the mid-2000s (2005/2006? latest 2007?), he returned to London to work in the field of finance. He has since moved back to Germany to assist with the running of the estate.

Sometime in 2004, his father signed over the German property of the House of Hanover, in which a few years later he sold off Calenberg Manor and held a controversial auction of some of the family's belongings (not all the family was thrilled with the idea!).

Since his title is technically no longer valid, he rarely performs public duties. However, since his father's remarriage in 1999 to Princess Caroline of Monaco, he has had a more public life as part of the Monégasque Princely Family, frequently appearing at their events such as Prince Rainier's funeral, the 2005 Princess Grace Awards in NYC, Prince Albert's enthronement and wedding ceremonies. He also joined his stepmother in the winter of 2011 during his youngest sibling's ice skating competitions {Photo}. In 2014, he was named as a godfather of Princess Katharina Victoria E//izabeth Cheryl of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha {Photo}.

His most recent public appearance was at his own wedding to Ekaterina Malysheva, which was attended by his younger siblings and stepsiblings{Source}. With Ekateria, he has a little girl of his own{Source}:
