Royal Profile: Princess Charlotte of Cambridge

Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge was born 2 May 2015 as the second child of Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge{Source}{Source}. She has an older brother and a younger brother:
Her christening took place on 5 July 2015. The following are her godparents {Source}:
  • The Hon. Laura Fellowes (paternal 1st cousin 1x removed)
  • Adam Middleton (maternal 1st cousin 1x removed)
  • Thomas van Staunbenzee (family friend)
  • James Meade (family friend)
  • Sophie Cater-Snuggs (family friend)

Although only five years of age, Princess Charlotte has made many media storms. It all started in May 2015, when sheleft the hospital with her parents. A few weeks later, her parents released new offical portraits of the  new princess. A month later, her christening took place, with of course, Official Christening photos . In the fall of her first year, her family released a new Family Portrait with the announcement of Prince George's nursery school, new official 6 month "birthday" photos. In the little princess's first winter, her family went on their first ski trip in Switzerland. A few weeks after Switzerland, she was spotted celebrating her great-grandmother's 90th birthday with her brother, two first cousins 1x removed, and three second cousins. Just before her first birthday, her parents released new Official first birthday portraits. In 2016, her official duties began with an appearance at  Trooping of Colour, a Royal Tour of Canada {second}, and  Christmas morning church with her family. Then we didn't see the young princess for the longest time. Finally, just shy of her birthday, her parents released an Official 2nd Birthday portrait. In May 2017, she kept busy with taking part in Auntie Pippa's wedding with big brother George and An official tour of Germany with her mother, father and brother. Following her second official tour, it was time again for the  Trooping of Colour Ceremony before another official tour with her family to Germany and Poland, and then her great-grandmother's annual Christmas Luncheon. In 2018, after starting nursery school, she welcomed a new baby brother, performed bridesmaids duties for her  uncle Harry and Aunt Meghan's wedding attended the Maseratti Charity Polo Match with her family, went to her 3rd Trooping of Colour, attended her little brother's Christening, joined in on the Family photocall in honor of her grandfather's 70th birthday, reprised her bridesmaid's duties for her father's cousin  Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank, and then joined her family for her great-grandmother's annual Christmas luncheon. In 2019, the youngster marked her fourth brithday with a photo taken by her mother, joined her parents and older brother for a visit to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show Garden, attended the Trooping of Colour, supported her father and uncle at the 2019 King Power Royal Polo Charity Day, showed off her sassy side at the King's Cup Royal Regatta, joined her parents and elder brother for a casual family day out at a Premier League match between Norwich City and Aston Villa, joined her extended family for her great-granny's Christmas luncheon  and Christmas Church service. So far in 2020, her life has been fairly quiet, however she has participated in a clap for NHS carers as part of the BBC Children In Need and Comic Relief 'Big Night In at London and assisted with packing up and delivering food packages for isolated pensioners in the local area as part of her fifth birthday celebrations.

In January 2018, the fun began with her education at  Willcocks Nursery School.  She is said to have learned to speak Spanish from her nanny {Source}. In 2019, she joined older brother Prince George at St. Thomas Battersea.

She is named:

  • Charlotte: presumably a feminine version of Charles, for her paternal grandfather
  • Elizabeth: for her great grandmother
  • Diana: for the paternal grandmother she will never know, but forever be compared to throughout her life.

Unlike previous British princesses, she cannot be displaced by any younger brothers with the new succession laws allowing equal rights to the throne. She is presently the 1st female in succession after her grandfather, father and older brother.

The young princess began attending Willcocks Nursery School in January 2018. It is likely she will follow in her brother's footsteps in September and will attended St. Thomas's Battersea.
