Royal Profile:Princess Christa Ingeborg von Thurn und Taxis

Princess Christa Ingeborg von Thurn und Taxis was born 14 December 1941 as the daughter of Erich and Ingeburg Heinle{Source}.

She married Prince Max Emanuel von Thurn und Taxis on 14 March 1973 (civil) and 14 March 1973 (religous) {Source}. Together, they have two sons {Source}:
As her marriage was no equal (she was a commoner, he a royal), their sons do not have succession rights.

As her children grew, she began to take an active role in German charities. For twenty years, from 1985-2005, she served as Vice Chairman of the Bravarian Red Cross for the districts of Ostallgäu (1985-1989) and Swabia (1989-2005) {Source}. Since 1989, she has been a member of the BRK-Land Board and the Committee for Social Services {Source}. Since 1994, she has been a member of the Federal Comittee for Welfare and Social Work in BRK {Source}. From 1993-2001, she was a member of BRK Committee for Readiness {Source}. She was a founding member of the Academy of the German Red Cross in 1995  {Source}. From 1997 to 2000, she was a senator in the Landtag of Bavaria. In November 1999, Christa began serving as Vice President of BRK.On 8 November 2003, she became the first woman to be elected President of the Bavarian Red Cross; she had already led the organization for the past five months after the previous president scaled down his duties due to health problems. Also in 2003, she was a member of the Council Pen (Stiftsratsvorsitzende Jutta Lowag) of the women's pen on Luitpoldpark. 

Her husband is a 1st cousin 1x removed of the current Prince von Thurn und Taxis, and is his heir presumptive.
