Royal Profile: Princess Chulabhorn of Thailand

Princess Chulabhorn of Thailand was born 4 July 1957, as the youngest daughter of King Bhumibol Aduladej & Queen Sirikit of Thailand.

She studied chemistry at Kasetsart University, earning a 1st Class Honours bachelor's degree in 1979. She also earned a doctoral degree in Science from Mahiold University in 1985. Since earning her degree, she has served as President of the Chulbhorn Research Institute, been awarded the UNESCO Einstein Medal {Source}, and was the first Aisan to be invited to join the Royal Society of Chemistry in the UK as an Honorary Fellow in 1986 {Source}.

In 1982, she married a Royal Thai Air Fource Air Vice Marshal, Virayudh Tishyasarian. Traditionally, she would've lost her Royal Status upon her marriage due to marrying a man of lesser position, but she was granted special permissions by her father to keep her rank as Princess. Together, they have two daughters:
  1. Princess Sirbhachudhabhorn (1982)
  2. Princess Adityadhornkitikhun (1984)
Their marriage eventually ended in divorce, and she is reportedly now in a relationship with a doctor and professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University, where the Princess has a specialization in epileptology. They often appear together in public, both at home and abroad, but no public or official engagement has been announced.
