Royal Profile: Prince Michael of Greece & Denmark

Prince Michael of Greece and Denmark was born on 7 January 1939 as the son of Prince Christopher of Greece and Denmark and Princess Françoise d'Orléans {Source}. He had no siblings. His father died in 1940, leaving him to be raised by his mother{Source}.

He was educated in France. He studied Political Science in Paris. He also spent a term in the Hellenic Coast Guard, discharged with the rank of Sub-lieutenant.

On 7 February 1965, he married Mariana Karella{Source}. Due to their unequal marriage, he renounced his succession rights and the their children{Source}. However, the marriage was approved by King Constantine II. Together, he and Mariana have two daughters, two sons-in-law, three grandsons and one granddaughter{Source}:

Prince Michael holds honors from Denmark and the Empire of Iran. He is a first cousin 1x removed from King Constantine II. Their common ancestor is King George I of Greece.
