Count Claus-Casimir Bernhard Marius Max van Oranje-Nassau, Jonkheer van Amsberg was born 21 March 2004 as the only son of Prince Constantjn and Princess Laurentien of The Netherlands{Source}. He is the only grandson of Princess Beatrix of The Netherlands{Source}
He has two sisters{Source}:
  • Countess Eloise (2002)
  • Countess Leonore (2006)


He lives in Belgium{Source}. He is presently 6th in line for the Dutch throne after his three cousins, father and elder sister{Source}\ He is called 'Clausimir' by his family and the press.
He is named for:
  • Claus: his paternal grandfather
  • Casimir:distant ancestor Henry Casimir II, Count of Nassau-Dietz
  • Bernhard: paternal great-grandfather
  • Marius: maternal uncle
  • Max: father's godfather


His birth was overshadowed by the death of his paternal great-grandmother, Princess Julianna, the day before his birth.


By Royal Decree of 11 May 2001, nr. 227, it was determined that all children and male-line descendants of Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands would bear the title of Count (Countess) of Orange-Nassau and the honorific Jonkheer (Jonkvrouwe) van Amsberg, and have the surname Van Oranje-Nassau van Amsberg. Therefore, his official title is Count Claus-Casimir Bernhard Maruys Max van Oranje-Nassau, Jonkeervan Amsberg
