Royal Profile:Princess Nathalie of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg

Princess Nathalie of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg was born 2 May 1975, in Denmark, the youngest child of Prince Richard of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and Princess Benedikte of Denmark.

In 1994, at the age of 19, she followed her mother's footsteps and began training with Kyra Kyrklund in the equestrian sport, Dressage. In 2000, she represented Denmark as a reserve rider {Source}  In 2001, she won the bronze medal at the European Championships for the Danish Team {Source}. She also represented Denmark at the 2002 World Championships, placing 4th {Source}. She was also a member of the 2008 Dressage Team at the Olympics {Source}, and again in 2012 {Source}. In 2005, she opened her own stud farm, based in Bad Berlebrg {Source}.

In January 2010, she announced her engagement to German horse breeder Alexander Johannsmann {Source}, they were married civilly in May of the same year, prior to the birth of their 1st child, Konstantin Gustav Henrich Richard that July {Source}. The religious ceremony took place in June 2011 {Source}.

Due to her not being raised in Denmark, per rule of her grandfather at the time of her birth, she is not in line for the Danish throne. However, she is distantly in line for the British throne as an great-great grandchild of Christian IX of Denmark.
