At birth, he was known simply as Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg, and was 2nd in line for the throne after his father{Source}. With the abdication of his grandfather in 2000, he has been known as Prince Guillaume Jean Joseph Marie, Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg{Source}.
In April 2012, it was announced that he was engaged to Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy {Source}. Their wedding was celebrated on 20th October 2012{Source}.
The future Grand Duke speaks many languages including Luxembourgish, French, English, German and Spanish{Source}.
Prince Guillaume attended schools in Europe, mostly in Luxembourg, Switzerland, and England {Source}. He attended Lorentzweiler primary school and completed His lower secondary education at Lycée Robert Schuman{Source}. After that, he went to Switzerland, where he attended Collège Beausoleil in the passing his French Baccalaureate in 2001{Source}. From September 2001 to August 2002, he attended Sandhurst Royal Military Academy{Source}, he was commissioned as an officer in the Luxembourg Army in December 2002, and presently holds the rank on Lieutenant-Colonel {Source}. In June 2009, he was awarded a Bachelor's Degree with honors in Humanities and Languages with a specialization in Political Science from the University of Angers (France) {Source}.
The future Grand Duke has many interests. He has a keen interest in the significant geopolitical events of our time {Source}. In 2005, he took part in the United Nation’s “Millennium Conference” in New York {Source}. Prince Guillaume also participates in many activities in Luxembourg. Since 2001, he has served as honorary president of the Board of Economic Developement {Source}.
