Royal Profile: HH Countess Zaria van Oranje-Nassau, Jonkvrouw van Amsberg

Countess Joanna Zaria Nicoline Milou of Oranje-Nassau, Jonkvrouwe van Amsberg was born 18 June 2006 in London, England, the younger of the two daughters of Prince Friso and Princess Mabel of The Netherlands. She is named after her father, the Slavonian goddess, Zaria; her aunt and godmother, and   Princess Marie Louise of Hesse-Kassel (or Hesse-Cassel) (1688–1765), the wife of Johan Willem Friso, Prince of Orange, the stadholder of Friesland.

She was christened on 3 February 2007 at Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague.

Her godparents are: her paternal uncle, Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange, her father's 1st cousin Prince Jaime of Bourbon-Parma, her maternal aunt Nicoline Wisse Smit, and friends of her parents Ruben Ameling and Maria Luz Luano.

It is believed that she and her sister attend school in or around London, where they reside with their parents.

In February 2012, her father was in an avalanche accident when the family was on a skiing holiday in Austria. She  and her sister were  primarily looked after by her aunt and uncle during this difficult time for her mother and grandmother. Her aunt and uncle took her and her sister skiing with their cousins to keep things normal as possible for them. Since February, her family has returned to London, however her father remains in a coma at a London Hospital.
