Royal Profile:Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg

Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg was born 30 June 1964 as  Alexandra Christina Manley and would later become Princess Alexandra of Denmark in Hong Kong. She is of British, Chinese, Czech and Austrian ancestry, and is the eldest of three daughters of  Richard Nigel Manley (1924-2010) and Christa Maria Manley (1933-).

She attended to her education primarily in Hong Kong. It has never been made pubic whether or not the former princess attended a degree, but she studied international business at universities in Austria, Japan and the UK. She worked in the sales and marketing industry in Hong Kong from 1990-1995. When she was engaged to Prince Joachim, she studied Danish as a foreign language.

She met her future 1st husband when he was working for a Danish shipping company and they were both attending a party. They had a quick whirlwind romance, and were engaged by the late fall of 1994, where Prince Joachim surprised her while they were holidaying in the Philippines. Their engagement wasn't made for several months, in May 1995. They married on 18 November 1995 in Denmark {Source}. The marriage was not met without sacrifice for the new royal bride. Having grown up as a British citizen, upon her marriage, she renounced her citizenship, gave up her career in marketing, changed her religious affiliation from Anglican to Evangelical Lutheran. Their marriage produced two sons:
  • Prince Nikolai (1999)
  • Prince Felix (2002)
During the summer of 2004, rumors and speculations were beginning that the former princess's marriage was about to end. Sure enough, by the end of summer that year, when their children were fairly young, they announced their intentions to separate and eventually divorce. A Danish Royal divorcing hadn't taken place since 1846. The Folketing (Danish's national Parliament) chose to put her on the civil list for life, independent from a potential future marriage, her yearly allowance began retroactively in October 2004, and was equal to $ 330,000 (equal to 189,0170.70 Danish Krone). Their divorce was finalized in April 2005.

As a Danish royal, she was popular among the Danish people. She was known for her fashion sense and charity work, and was often referred to as the "Diana of the North". She is a native English and German speaker, so she was able to pick up the Danish language quickly. In spite of being raised in Hong Kong, she never learn Manarin Chinese or Canotnese. Both during and after her marriage she was involved with many charitable efforts including The Children's Red Cross, the Danish Society for the Blind, UNICEF, and the single-mother's organization, Mother Help. She also was a UNICEF ambassador whe nshe traveled to Thailand to visit with HIV/AIDS patients.

She was remarried in 2004.

The Duchess takes pride in her work with her charities. In her own words The Duchess has said{Source}:
"As members of the Royal Family and in our public life, The Duke and I have the huge privilege of continuously meeting people greatly committed to their work with charitable causes - many individuals being volunteers, doing all kinds of good works, giving of their time, talents and expertise. Some high-powered and greatly skilled, others willing to do the most mundane but essential tasks - all of them enjoying being part of a team supporting a noble cause. It is inspiring and immensely rewarding meeting these volunteers on my varying engagements in London and throughout the country. I meet volunteers in schools, often for children with special needs, medical research projects, hospices, homes for older and frail people, and also in community initiatives for sport, music and the conservation of the Arts. I see so many wonderful places, and it is the people involved who make them so.
Charity work in Great Britain is a tradition. I don’t think I have a friend who has not involved him or herself somehow or other. How far back this tradition goes, I am not sure- it is one of the major aspects which makes me very proud to be British.
There is another facet to voluntary work which I think is very important, and that is the sense of fulfilment and reward in the knowledge of the value of your contribution as a volunteer. In this country there is a firmly grounded tradition, and a freedom, to help one’s fellow men in many different forms, and I think we should be proud of that and grateful for it also."
Queen Elizabeth II must've been fairly fond of her new cousin-in-law as she bestowed awards on her rather quickly {Source}

  • She was made a Dame of Justice of the Order of St John (1974)
  • She was created Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO) (1989)

Royal Profile:Theodor Christian Emanuel Rosanes af Rosenborg

Theodor Christian Emanuel Rosanes af Rosenborg was born 19 June 2008, the youngest of four children of Countess Camilla Alexandrine Cristine of Rosenborg and Mikael Rosanes {Source}. His maternal grandfather was the late Count Christian af Rosenborg. He has one older sister, Anastasia and two older brothers, Ludwig and Leopold

This youngster holds no royal title, or succession rights, but as a 1st cousin 2x removed, he is kind of part of the Royal Family, but not really. Because he isn't technically part of the Royal Family, little is known about him.

He was recently seen at the funeral of his grandfather {Photos}, however, other than this, I do not believe we have seen him.

Royal Profile:Don Bruno Alejandro Gómez-Acebo y de Borbón

Don Bruno Alejandro Gómez-Acebo y de Borbón was born 15 June 1971, the third child of Infanta Pilar  of Spain and Don Luis Gómez-Acebo y Duque de Estrada, ?th Viscount de la Torre{Source}. He has an older sister, an older brother and two younger brothers{Source}.

He was married at the Church of la Incarnación on 5 October 2002 to Bárbara Cano y de la Plaza {Source}. Together, they have three sons {Source}:
  • Alejandro Juan Gómez-Acebo y Cano (born 5 November 2004)
  • Guillermo Gómez-Acebo y Cano (born 23 November 2005)
  • Álvaro Gómez-Acebo y Cano (born 30 May 2011), and was baptized that September, where his godparents were Luis Alfonso de Borbon and Francesca Franco{Source}
As he is *technically* not in the Spanish line of succession, little is known about him. Okay. Maybe technically not, pending on how you'd like to interpret the Spanish Constitution, article 57, which states:

Section 57 of the Spanish Constitution provides that
The Crown of Spain shall be inherited by the successors of H. M. Juan Carlos I de Borbón, the legitimate heir of the historic dynasty. Succession to the throne shall follow the regular order of primogeniture and representation, the first line always having preference over subsequent lines; within the same line,the closer grade over the more remote; within the same grade, the male over the female, and in the same sex, the elder over the younger.{Source}

To date, the Spanish government has not seen fit to clarify whether this provision includes anyone beyond the descendants of King Juan Carlos, such as his sisters and their families: "Successors" may not be presumed to be synonymous with "descendants".

However, it's likely that no one beyond Infanta Leonor will ascends the throne unless something truly catastrophic happens. Or if you feel that his mother's abdication prior to the adaptation of this constitution is valid, then no, he's not in line for the Spanish throne. If you DO feel he's in line, then he is no higher than 11th position.
