Countess Joanna Zaria Nicoline Milou of Oranje-Nassau, Jonkvrouwe van Amsberg was born 18 June 2006 in London, England, the younger of the two daughters of Prince Friso and Princess Mabel of The Netherlands. 

She is named:

Joanna: After her father

Zaria: The Slavonian goddess

Nicoline: Her maternal aunt and godmother

Milou: For Princess Marie Louise of Hesse-Kassel (or Hesse-Cassel) (1688–1765), the wife of Johan Willem Friso, Prince of Orange, the stadholder of Friesland.

She was christened on 3 February 2007 at Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague.
