Royal Profile: HRH Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn of Thailand

Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn of Thailand  was born 28 July 1952, the only son of Bhumibol Adulyadej, the King of Thailand, and Queen Sirikit. He is the current Crown Prince of Thailand and heir apparent to the throne. He spent his early education at schools in Thailand before attending private secondary schools in the United Kingdom and Australia including King's Mead School, Seaford and Millfield School, Somerset and The King's School, Sydney. He then attended the Royal Military College in Australia. He also completed an arts degree at Sukhothai Thammatirat University in Bangkok. He was created the Crown Prince of Thailand after he turned 20 years old in 1972. He later graduated from the Royal Military College, Duntroon in Canberra, Australia. An officer in the Thai military, he trained with the Australian, British and United States armed services. He is a qualified military pilot and helicopter pilot.  With the Olympic Games opening at the end of this week, I thought it might be fun to take a look at what royals have had involvement in the Games over the years. Royal Profile: HSH Princess Georgina of Liechtenstein

Princess Georgina Maximiliana Tatiana Maria of Liechtenstein  was born 23 July 2005 in Vienna, Austria, the middle child and only daughter of Prince Constantin Ferdinand Maria of Liechtenstein and his wife, Princess Marie . She has one older brother and one younger one-Prince Moritz Emanuel Maria of Liechtenstein and Prince Benedikt Ferdinand Hubertus Maria  of Liechtenstein. Her brother Prince Moritz was born in New York, NY USA and her younger brother was also born in Vienna, like she was. She is the 4th granddaughter (and 10th grandchild overall) of  Prince Hans-Adam II  and his wife, Princess Marie. Because Liechtenstein is ruled under Agnatic primogeniture law, meaning male-only succession, Princess Georgina is not line line for the throne. If for some reason the laws were to change, she would be no higher than 7th after her father today.

Prince Felix Henrik Valdemar Christian of Denmark, Count of Monpezat was born 22 July 2002, the younger son of Prince Joachim and his then-wife Princess Alexandra of Denmark.  He has an older brother, Prince Nikolai, a younger half-brother, Prince Henrik and a younger half-sister, Princess Athena. Prince Felix was christened in Møgeltønder church on 4 October 2002 by the royal vicar Christian Thodberg. At the christening the musical work Dåbens Pagt composed by Frederik Magle, dedicated to Prince Felix, was given its first performance. Crown Prince Haakon of Norway  was born 20 July 1973, the only son of then Crown Prince Harald and the Crown Princess Sojna . He has one elder sister, Princess Martha Louise. The future King of Norway attended the Norwegian Naval Academy, graduating in 1995. The Prince also attended University of Califorina, Berkley, where he recieved a BA in Political Science in 1999. After finishing his education, he participated in the UN's General Assemby as a third delegate. In 2001, he followed the Foreign Ministry’s trainee programme for diplomats, and completed his education in 2003 at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he was awarded an MA in development studies, specializing in international trade and Africa. Camilla Rosemary, The Duchess of Cornwall  was born 17 July 1947, the eldest child and first daughter of Major Bruce Shand and his wife, The Hon. Rosalind Cubitt. Princess Marie of Liechtenstein was born  Countess Marie Gabriele Franciska Kálnoky de Kőröspatak on 16 July 1975 in modern-day Czech Republic. She married her 1st cousin,  Prince Constantin of Liechtenstein  on 5 June 1999. She is her husband's cousin on his mother's side, they are both grandchildren of Count Ferdinand Kinsky of Wchinitz and Tettau (1907–1969) and Countess Henriette Caroline of Ledebur-Wicheln.
