MAN...was I way off on this one! I predicted:
Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Sophie, The Countess of Wessex, Princess Charlene of Monaco, Britt Davidsen Siesbye & Edouard Cavallier as godparents...I only got Edouard Cavallier right! And names, I predicted:
  1. Margarethe for her paternal grandmother (and in honor of her grandmother’s anniversary the year she was born)
  2. Françoise for her maternal grandmother
  3. Ingrid for her paternal great-grandmother
  4. Victoria for her godmother/ greatx4 Grandmother (paternal)
Technically, I got two of the four right...Marguerite is French for Margarethe...

Royal Profile: HRH Princess Máxima of the Netherlands

HRH Princess Máxima of the Netherlands was born 17 May 1971, in Buenos Aires, Argentinathe daughter of Jorge Horacio Zorreguieta Stefanini (b. 1928) and his second wife María del Carmen Cerruti Carricart (b. 1944). She has two brothers, a sister and three half-sisters by her father's first wife Marta López Gil.

She attended Northlands School and Universidad Católica Argentina, where she graduated with a degree in Eonomics in 1995. She worked as an investment banker after graduating, she worked for large international Finance companies in Argentina, New York and Europe.

She met the heir to the Dutch throne when they were both attending the Seville Spring Fair: "Feria de abril de Sevilla" in 1999. At the time, she was unaware that he was a prince, as he had introduced himself as simply, Alexander. Apparently, when Alexander confessed that he was a prince, she thought he was joking! After their initial meeting, they agreed to meet again in New York City, where she was working at the time. Their relationship and eventual marriage plans were not met without controversy due to her father's involvement with the Argentine government. Thus, when she and her prince married in Amsterdam on 2 February 2002, her parents were not among the guests. On her 30th birthday, she was granted dual Argentine and Dutch Citizenship by royal decree. By Royal Decree on 25 January 2002, upon the solemnization of marriage Máxima Zorreguieta was taken up into the Dutch nobility and the titlesPrincess of the Netherlands and Princess of Orange-Nassau, and the predicate Royal Highness, were formally granted to her. By Royal Decree nr. 42 of 25 January 2002, the Princess was granted her own personal coat of arms and a personal standard. On 13 May 2011 the Dutch parliament confirmed that when the Prince of Orange ascends the throne, Princess Máxima will take the style and title of Her Majesty The Queen of the Netherlands. Rather than converting to the Reformed Dutch Church upon marriage, she remained Roman Catholic, agreeing that any of their children would be raised within the religion of the Dutch Royal Family. Together, they have three daughters who are:
  1. HRH Princess Catharina-Amalia Beatrix Carmen Victoria (7 December 2003)
  2. HRH Princess Alexia Juliana Marcela Laurentien (26 June 2005)
  3. HRH Princess Ariane Wilhelmina Máxima Inés (10 April 2007)

She is also godmother to her niece Countess Leonore of Orange-Nassau, Jonkvrouwe van Amsberg and Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway.

The Princess is active in rights for women and migrants to The Netherlands. She speaks fluent English, Dutch and Spanish. She is often acting as a representative of The Netherlands at conference around the world.

Royal Profile: Zara Anne Elizabeth Phillips-Tindall

Zara Anne Elizabeth Phillips-Tindall was born 15 May 1981, the daughter of Princess Anne, The Princess Royal and Capt. Mark Phillips. She has an older brother, Peter Phillips (1977), and two half-sisters, Felicity Tonkin (1985, to her father by his brief affair with Heather Tonkin), and Stephanie Phillips(1997 from her father's second marriage to Sandy Pflueger.) Among her godparents were:
  • Colonel Andrew Parker-Bowles
  • Mrs Jackie Stewart, wife of the racing driver
During her schooldays, latterly at Gordonstoun, she excelled at many sporting activities. She represented her schools in hockey, athletics and gymnastics. She later qualified as a physiotherapist specialising in Equine Physiotherapy, from the University of Exeter.

Like both her parents, she is an accomplished equestrian. She collected individual and team gold medals at the 2005 European Eventing Championship in Blenheim and individual gold and team silver medals at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, making her the reigning Eventing World Champion until 2010. She was set to participate in the 2004 Athens Olympics and 2008 Beijing Olympics, but had to pull out at the last minute due to injury of her horse during training both times.

As a non-titled member of the British Royal Family, she supports many causes, many of which are related to children, spinal injuries or equestrianism. In 2003, she and her mother took part in the first UK double ship-naming ceremony in Southampton. Princess Anne named the P&O Cruises liner Oceana, and Phillips named its sister ship Adonia. In 2005, she auctioned one of her evening gowns (worn at the London premiere of the film Seabiscuit) to raise money for tsunami relief. She also undertook a visit to New Zealand in her role as patron of The Catwalk Trust. From 1998 to 2005 she served as the president of Club 16-24, a group which encourages young people to take an interest in racing. She is linked to INSPIRE, the Salisbury based medical research charity which helps to improve the quality of life of people with spinal cord injuries, and Sargent Cancer Care for Children, the UK's leading children's cancer charity.

She appears at events for The Caudwell Charitable Trust, which is targeted at children with special needs, disabilities and serious illnesses. She has continued her family's long patronage of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and has visited on many occasions. In 2006, she took part in a special charity day for Cantor Index, whose staff were killed in the 11 September 2001 attacks. In 2007, she became patron of the Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund. To help with Sport Relief 2008, she posed for her first official royal portrait by artist Jack Vettriano. In 2009, she attended a celebrity poker tournament in Monaco in aid of Darfur, Sudan. In September 2010, she attended the 2012 London Olympic Ball alongside cousin Prince Harry of Wales. In October of the same year she attended another celebrity poker tournament, this time in London, in aid of Cancer Research UK, of which she is Royal Patron. Zara was appointed as a Member of Order of the British Empire by her grandmother in the annual New Year's Honours list in 2007 for her role in equestiansim.

In 2009, she became a business woman and fashion designer when she began to design her own range of equestrian clothing for Musto Outdoor Clothing. The range is named ZP176 after the team number Zara was given when she first represented her country. The range was officially launched in July 2010.

She is named Zara at the suggestion of her uncle, Prince Charles-it's Greek meaning "radiance", her second and middle names come from her mother and grandmother. At her birth, she was 6th in line for the throne, but after the births of her cousins Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, James Viscount Severn, and her nieces Savanah and Isla, she is presently 14th in line of Succession.

She met her now husband, Mike Tindall, through her cousin, Prince Harry at England's Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003. They lived together near Princess Anne's Scotland estate for several years. Buckingham Palace announced their engagement on 21 December 2010. They were married on 30 July 2011.

Royal Profile: HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark & Crown Princess Mary of Denmark

Crown Prince Frederik met Australian Mary Donaldson met during the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

After the Olympics were over, the new couple began a long-distance relationship communicating via email, phone calls, and discrete visits. In 2001, the royal romance was uncovered by the tabloids, shortly after which Mary moved from Australia to Europe. She began teaching English in Paris in December 2001 where she would make occasional trips to Denmark, often attended public events with Crown Prince Fredrick. In September 2003, their engagement was announced. In October that same year, Queen Maragethe gave her official consent to the marriage at a State Council meeting where they became officially engaged.

The Danish parliament passed a special law "Mary's Law", giving her Danish citizenship upon their marriage. She also signed a prenuptial agreement and converted to the Lutheran religion. The couple resided within the Amalienborg Palace Complex.

Their wedding took place on 14 May 2004 at Copenhagen Cathedral, Copenhagen. Her bridesmaids were her two sisters and a good friend,   Jane Alison Stephens, Patricia Anne Bailey and Amber Petty

Today, they are celebrating their 8th wedding anniversary. Together, they have four children:

Royal Profile: HM King Juan Carlos I of Spain & HM Queen Sofia of Spain

The royal pair of Spain met on a Greek cruise in 1954. They dated for several years before marrying at Catholic Cathedral of Saint Dennis in Athens, Greece on 14 May 1962. In doing so, the 24 year old Greek Princess relinquished her and her decedents rights to the Greek throne. She also converted from Greek Orthodox to Roman Catholicism to become the future queen of Spain. At the time of her marriage, her husband was an Infante of Spain. She also chose to change the spelling of her name from Sophia to Sofia, coincidentally, the two names may be spelled differently, but have the same pronunciation.

At his wife's suggestion in 1969, the Spanish State gave her husband he title Prince of Spain as he was the heir to the throne. At his father's death in 1975, her husband ascended the throne as King Juan Carlos I.

Together, they have three children, a daughter-in-law and a son-in-law, and eight grandchildren. They are:

  • Infanta Elena, Duchess of Lugo (1963)
    • Don Felipe Juan Froilán de Todos los Santos de Marichalar y Borbón (1998)
    • Doña Victoria Federica de Todos los Santos de Marichalar y de Borbón (2000)
  • Infanta Cristina,  Duchess of Palma de Mallorca (Iñaki Urdangarín, Duke of Palma de Mallorca)
    • Don Juan Valentín de Todos los Santos Urdangarín y de Borbón (1999)
    • Don Pablo Nicolás Sebastián de Todos los Santos Urdangarín y de Borbón (2000)
    • Don Miguel de Todos los Santos Urdangarín y de Borbón (2002)
    • Doña Irene de Todos los Santos Urdangarín y de Borbón (2005)
  • Prince Felipe of Austrias (1969) (Princess Letiza of Austrias)
    • Infanta Leonor (2005) (who is also their goddaughter)
    • Infanta Sofia (named in her grandmother's honor)
Even though in recent years their daughters have been in the media for the turmoil of marriages (Elena divorced her husband in 2009, and Cristina's husband has recently been caught in a scandal and banned from royal activities because of it), and their son waited until he was a little older to marry (he was 36 years old when he married), the King and Queen have kept it together for 50 years-since she was 23 years old and he was 24 years old.

Royal Profile: Donatella Knecht de Massy

Donatella Knecht de Massy is the wife of K. Sébastien Knecht de Massy, who is the grandson of Princess Antoinette of Monaco, Baroness of Massy. She was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 10 May 1972. She grew up mostly in Switzerland, where she attended L'Institut Le Rosey. She also attended Northeastern University, where she earned a BA in Journalism.

Upon recieving her BA, she returned to Switzerland to pursue a career in the media. While in Switzerland, she worked for The Geneva Post. She moved to Monaco to work for the Formula 1 Magazine called Focus One, which is based out of Monaco. She currently works for Transport and Commodities with her husband in Monaco.

She holds Italian citizenship, but is a permanent resident of Monaco. She married K. Sébastien Knecht de Massy, the eldest grandson of Princess Antoinette of Monaco, Baroness of Massy, in 1999. Their first of four daughters, Christine (presumably named for her paternal grandmother who died in 1989), was born on 12 June 2000. Their second daughter, Alexia, was born on 21 September 2001. Their third daughter Vittoria, was born 18 April 2007. Their youngest, Andrea was born on 16 October 2008.

Like the rest of the Grimaldi clan, she plays an active part in charities around Monaco. She has been a part of:
  1. MOM; Mothers of Monaco who provided funding for children from under-developed countries to be able to come to the Principality for heart surgeries, as well as supplying an orphanage in Tunisia with much-needed supplies.
  2. Ladies Lunch Monaco; who raise funds to support other charitable institutions in the Principality.
  3. Conservation Guardians  (President of the Board); who's mission is to Protect and conserve Wildlife and bring support to the communities.
Because her husband and daughters *technically* lost their place in succession with the death of Prince Rainier in 2005, she and her family are known to keep out of the main limelight.  However, in more recent years, they have come to a few family events. In 2008, she, her husband and their two older daughters (who were 6 years old and 7 years old at the time) attended the 32nd annual International Circus Festival of Monte Carlo, and they sat in the royal box with the rest of the Grimaldis. They also attended the event in 2011 (Seen here between Princess Stephanie and Pauline Ducruet).  In July 2011, she acted as maid-of-honor to now Princess Charlene at her wedding to Prince Albert, where she acted as a witness during both ceremonies (religious), and appeared on the balcony after the civil ceremony. She also attended the Eagles and JM Jarre concerts (sitting in front of Princess Caroline). That November, she and her husband appeared with the family during the National Day festivities, at the church service, during the honor guard ceremony (across and behind Princess Stephanie) and of course, on the balcony.

Royal Profile: HRH Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco

Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco was born 10 May 1978, the daughter of al-Haj Abdel Hamid Bennan Naima Bennan. She is the princess consort of  Mohammed VI. She is the mother of  HRH Crown Prince Moulay Hassan (born 8 May 2003) and  HRH Princess Lalla Khadija (born 28 February 2007).

Her mother died when she was just three years old. She and her sister were raised by her maternal grandmother. She was educated in private schools in Rabat, Morocco. After completing her engineering studies, she worked for a few years between 1999 and 2002 as an information services engineer at ONA Group, the country's largest private holding company (which is also controlled by the Moroccan Royal Family).

She met her husband during a private party in 1999. They began a courtship shortly after, and were married in 2002.

Since becoming Morocco's first lady, she has kept a low-profile. However, unlike her predecessors for the postion, she has kept a more well known profile. She is active in supporting cancer associations and the Fez Sacred Music Festival. Salma has also represented the King and Morocco in meetings and gatherings in Thailand, Japan and France. She also founded a cancer prevention association in Morocco and has been involved in HIV/AIDS prevention in Africa work. Recently, she visited Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.

For foreign honors, she holds orders from Belgium & Spain:
  • Grand Cross of the Order of Leopold II of Belgium since 5 October 2004
  • Grand Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic of Spain since 17 January 2005

Op-Ed: Princess Charlene Vs the Daily Mail or as I call it, The Daily Fail.

As some of you may be aware, there have been massive rumors again about Princess Charlene and not keeping her end of the deal…if there WAS a deal….to provide a royal heir. Here’s the article I’m talking about that started the whole thing. The basic premise of the article is that the rumors of her running away were true, and in order to convince her to stay, she and Albert agreed as soon as she provides an heir to the throne and she would get a substantial monetary supplement out of the deal, but she’s having trouble conceiving (which I do believe, but that’s an entirely different story all together) and because of that, she’s getting depressed.

Honestly, given how many FACTS (FACTS folks as in can be proven…) were incorrect in the article itself and how both the Prince and Princess have gone on record numerous times about the issue, I take the whole idea  of Emma Renylods's article with a grain of salt….the incorrect facts (or proof that Emma Renyolds is a complete failure at math, spelling and journalism all together as she can't get ages, spelling of names or facts right):
  1. Jazmin’s mother is NOT Tamara Rotola, but Tamara Rotolo. R-O-T-O-L-O.
  2. Alexandre was born in August 2003, making him presently 8 years old, not 7 as stated in the article.
  3. Charlene was born 25 January 1978, meaning she is 34 years old. The article claims she is 33 years old.
  4. Prince Albert was born 14 March 1958, making him 55 years old, not 54 years old  as the article states.
  5. There was no 3rd child. Albert’s not a cheater. He is a Playboy, but not a cheater. If there was a third child, don’t you think we’d have heard something other than ridiculous rumors that spoiled their wedding about it by now? The palace is good at cover ups, but not good enough to keep it this quiet.
  6. The Princess Grace Awards WAS NOT held in Grace’s honor, but in honor of the recipients of the Princess Grace Awards.
  7. The rumor that she bolted to Nice airport was false. She went to Nice to catch a flight to Paris for a day of shopping with her mother and was back the same evening. Her passport was confiscated because of a lapse of judgement-she was holding two passports at the time, her valid South African one and her not-until-after-the-wedding-was-it-valid Monaco passport, and handed the security agent her not yet valid one, and all it took was a quick look at her personal security guard and call to Albert and they were on their way. Duh. Any moron can figure that one out.
  8. Prince Albert and Charlene met in 2000, were friends for six years before they began to date in 2006. They dated for 5 years, were engaged for one year, and have been married for one almost now. Where’s the four years like it claims in the article? I'm not seeing it...6 years, 5 years, 1 year...1 year. humm...nope. No 4 years.
  9. The wedding was not 10 months ago, but 10 months, one week.
  10. Prince Albert never actually dated Brooke Shields. They are just friends. They are actually distant cousins through  Louis XIV of France. Brooke was  Louis XIV's cousin many generations removed {Source} and he is Prince Albert's something (still working on it).

See? There's no basis to believe it or let it go viral. It's totally ridiculous tabloid gossip. Only a complete moron would be stupid enough to believe it. If they were going to make something so stupid up, the least they could do is get the minor details right. After all, the best lies consist of accurate details.

One royal blogger made an interesting point that actually sparked this op-ed: Each time a negative article appears about the Grimaldis in the Daily Fail (errr...MAIL. The Daily Mail.), a positive one appears about the Duchess of Cambridge (sure enough, shortly after this factucually incorrect article about Charlene appeared, there was a positive one of  a certain duke and duchess).

Another interesting point that  the royal blogger makes is that it could be possible that Charlene's depressive state is due to a miscarriage and it's likely that the media isn't helping her any at all. Quite honestly, given some of the information that I have uncovered about Princess Charlene (of which is information that will remain under wraps, so don't bother asking what it is that I know that's not already public about her. All I'm sayin' is that I have a 6th degree of separation from Princess Charlene...that's more like two degrees.), that prediction would not surprise me at all. If in fact that is true, does it make it fair or even decent to write articles such as the Daily Fail's article? Personally, I've never suffered one, but I know people who have, and it's heartbreaking to watch them recover! If it is true that she suffered a miscarriage, the last thing she needs is the media making the wrong assumptions and spreading rumors!

Bottom line: The people at the Daily Mail...are clueless, inconsiderate and downright rude people, even for tabloid reporters.

Royal Profile: HRH Crown Prince Moulay Al-Hassan of Morocco

Crown Prince Moulay Al-Hassan of Morocco is the oldest child of King Mohammed VI of Morocco and his wife Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco. He has one younger sister, Princess Lalla Khadija. He was born on 8 May 2003 at 6:40am at the Royal Palace in Rabat, Morocco .

His father named him after his grandfather, King Hassan II (therefore, when and if Hassan succeeds to the throne, he will be Hassan III).

The young prince attends the same school his father did,  Quranic School of Palace. There, he is recieving the "same basis his father had" {Source}.

Royal Profile: Count Carl Johan Bernadotte

Count Carl Johan Bernadotte was born the youngest child of King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden and his first wife, Princess Margaret of Connaught on 31 October 1916 in Stockholm, Sweden. He had 3 older brothers and an older sister. He was the uncle of King Carl XVI Gustav (his father was the Count's eldest brother) and Queen Margarethe II, Queen Anne-Marie of The Hellenes, and Princess Benedikte of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (their mother was his big sister).

Because he chose to marry outside his royal status, he lost his succession rights. He married in New York, NY on 19 Februrary 1946 to Elin Kerstin Margaretha Wijkmark, who died in 1987. On 29 September 1988, he married Countess Gunnila Märtha Louise Wachtmeister af Johannishus in Denmark. Together with his first wife, he adopted two children, a boy and a girl, Monica Kristina Margaretha Bernadotte (5 March 1948, adopted in 1951) and Christian Carl Henning Bernadotte (b. 3 December 1949, adopted in 1950). Between them, he has six grandchildren.

He was created Count of Wisborg by Charlotte, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, on 2 July 1951. He and Grand Duchess Charlotte were distant cousins through King Oscar II of Sweden & Norway and Princess Sophia of Nassau.

He was chairman of Ointroducerad Adels Förening, the association of unintroduced nobility in Sweden, 1948-1963.

Since 2007,  he was the last surviving great-grandchild of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom.  he surpassed his elder brother, Sigvard (1907-2002), as the longest-lived of Queen Victoria's male descendants in June 2011.
