Royal Predictions: Princess Leonore of Sweden. Duchess of Gotland's baptism and Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco announce they are expecting their first child at the end of 2014

SO MUCH BABY NEWS right now!

First, Princess Leonore Lilian Maria of Sweden, Duchess of Gotland's baptism is fast approaching. Here are my predictions and information on that so far:

The Date and location: 8 June 2014, Drottningholm Palace Chapel at 12:00 European Central Time {Source}.

Godparents: Apparently, she will have six, that will be officially announced the morning of the baptism itself{Source}. However, I am in the mood for speculating and guessing so...here's my guesses....but first some facts:

Christopher O'Neil has five half sisters (two maternal, three paternal)
Princess Madeline has two siblings. Prince Carl Philip is already godfather of Princess Estelle.
Bridesmaids and Pageboys at their wedding consisted of {Source}:
  • Lillie von Horn, daughter of Katarina von Horn who is one one Princess Madeleine's closest friends
  • Annais Sommerlath daughter of Patrick Sommerlath (her cousin)
  • Chloe Sommerlath,  daughter of Patrick Sommerlath (her cousin, twin of Annais)
  • Count Louis Abensperg und Traun, son of Christopher's sister Countess Natascha Abensperg und Traun
  • Countess Chiara Abensperg und Traun, daughter of Christopher's sister Countess Natascha Abensperg und Traun
  • Jasper D'Abo, son of Tatjana d’Abo, Christopher's sister
Based on that-both of Christopher's maternal sisters were included in the wedding , along with one of Madeleine's cousins and one of her best friends via their kids...so that says that either they are closer with them or at least one of those will be a godparent, with possibly one of the others included.

So, with all that said, here are my predictions for Princess Leonore Lilian Maria of Sweden, Duchess of Gotland's godparents:
  • At least one of Christopher's sisters, which I'm not sure, if not one from each side
  • Either Prince Daniel or Crown Princess Victoria (Prince Carl Philip is already Princess Estelle's godfather, remember, so I doubt they'd ask him to do it to another niece so soon)
  • One of (at least): Katarina von Horn, Robert von Horn, Sofia hellqvist (think of that time the Crown Princely couple of Denmark named his cousin's long time live-in girlfriend as a godmother to one of their kids), Louise Gottlieb, Louisa de Geer, Charlotte Kreuger, and/or Emma Pernald
Please note the ceremony can be viewed online, svt.se has the rights to broadcast the event, beginning at 11:15 AM Sweden Time (that's 5:15AM Eastern US!!).

There's that.

Now my other point for this post, which I have a host of emotions about like you wouldn't believe:

It was announced yesterday by Monaco's Palace Princier, 30 May 2014 {Source}:

Le Prince Albert II et la Princesse Charlène de Monaco ont l’immense joie d’annoncer qu’Ils attendent un heureux événement. La naissance est prévue à la fin de l’année.
T.S.H. the Prince and the Princess of Monaco are delighted to announce the pregnancy of H.S.H. Princess Charlène. The birth is expected at the end of the year.

Shocked me.
Surprised me.
Excited me.

I was a mix of emotions on this one.

If I did the calculations and they are running this pregnancy with the right protocols...they are announcing at the end of the 3rd month of the pregnancy...which puts the birth sometime between the end of November and early December, if all goes according to plan. So far, the only international trip for 2014 that was announced was the Princess Grace Awards in Los Angels in October for both, but I doubt she'll go. Him, possibly, but again I doubt it. Princess Caroline will probably attend, given the circumstances. We shall see.

I don't know about all of you, but I'm REALLY hoping for a little girl, for a variety of reasons (ANOTHER future female monarch folks....can you see it? Victoria, Elisabeth, Catharina-Amalia, Leonore, Estelle...and little Princess Saving Monaco). I'm also hoping that she looks like Grandma Lynette rather than Grandma Grace-it would be a refreshing change on multiple levels. First, the differences in looks would be subtle...sure a hint of Grace would be nice (and perhaps her personality too? too much?). Secondly, if it were a girl, that would mean (providing she is their only child):

  • She would be the first female monarch since 1731 (the last was Louise Hippolyte, from February to December 1731, and she had a regent per the law at the time)
  • She would be the first female monarch without a regent (unless Albert died before she turned 18 years old, then whomever had legal and physical custody of her (likely either her mother or one of her aunts) would act as her regent)

Upon birth, the child would immediately (as a child of the reigning prince) be given the title His/Her Serene Highness Hereditary Prince XYXZ of Monaco or Her Serene Highness Princess XYH , Heiress Presumptive of Monaco

Name wise, I'm predicting something either totally traditionally Grimaldi or totally off the wall. These two could go either way. Some possible names, in no particular order at this point:
For a Girl:
  • Grace (NOT for a first name, but among them...after all, he did suggest calling Jazmin Grace after his mother)
  • Lynette (again, not for a first name, but among them)
  • Charlene (Charlene Lynette for her mom...so why not?)
  • Juliette (for her greatx2 grandmother, Princess Charlotte's mother)
  • Marie  (for her greatx2 grandmother, Princess Charlotte's mother)
  • Victoria (for Albert's cousin Chris LeVine's wife)
For a Boy:

  • Charles (For Charles III)
  • Michael (for her father)
  • Rainier (for his father)
  • either Sean or Garreth are not so (but possible, who knows what these two will pick!) for one of Charlene's brothers.
  • Christopher (for Albert's cousin who was his best man)
When it gets closer to the birth, I'll do another post with name predictions in possible order and possible godparents.
