Royal Profile: Princess Amedeo of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria-Este and Princess of Hungary

Princess Amedeo of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria-Este and Princess of Hungary was born as Noblie Elisabetta 'Lili' Maria Rosboch von Wolkenstein on 9 September 1987 as the only child of Nobile Ettore Rosboch von Wolkenstein and his wife, Countess Lilia Smecchia {Source}.

She spent her childhood in Rome, and eventually earned a French baccalauréat E Series from Lycée Chateaubriand in 2005 {Source}. Upon graduation, she moved to London to study literature and film at Queen Mary University {Source}. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in 2009 {Source}.

During her studies, she completed several internships. In 2007, she interned at the Dickinson Roundell art gallery in London's contemporary art department {Source}.Shortly after graduation, in September 2009, she began an internship at Bloomberg News in the cultural department in New York, NY {Source}.

She has a keen interest in writing, arts and cultures {Source}. She speaks several languages including Italian (her mother-tounge), French and English {Source}. As a child, she was an avid sportswoman. Some of her favorite activities include alpine skiing, horseback ridding, swimming and water-skiing {Source}. She also enjoys visiting museums, reading, movies and traveling {Source}.

She officially became engaged to Prince Amedeo of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este on Saturday, 14 February 2014 {Source}. They were wed on 5 July 2014, and relocated from New York, USA to Belgium after the wedding.

At the time of their wedding, no royal decree was issued granting her the title Her Royal Highness Princess of Belgium. However, it has been speculated as to why no such decree has yet to be issued. Some say that is was due to other government matters (such as the current world economic crisis) were taking priority over someone's title matters, other sources say it was because Prince Amedeo did not seek government authorization (as required by Belgian law) for the marriage, therefore he automatically loses his rights to the Belgian throne-however, neither has yet to be confirmed by the Royal Court or Belgian Government. In this royal blogger's opinion, I doubt we will ever know for sure or even if she ever gets the title Princess of Belgium, as how Prince Amedeo is so distant in line for the throne and how private his mother is about her children's private lives. The speculations were confirmed in 2015{Source}. In late 2015, King Philippe issued a retroactive royal decree granting his permission for Amedeo and Lili's marriage, per required by the Belgian Constitution. In 2016, she and Amedeo welcomed their first child:

  1. Archduchess Anna Astrid of Austria-Este (2016)

Due to King Philippe's issue of another royal decree that only his direct descendants would be entitled to HRH Prince/ss of Belgium, Anna Astrid is not entitled to the title. However, she is included in the Belgian succession and entitled to her paternal grandfather's titles Her Royal and Imperial Highness Archduchess of Austria-Este, and Princess of Hungary.
