At the age of two, he became the 14th Duke of Huéscar, when his grandfather gave to him. The title is now held by his eldest son.


He was educated in Spain. He earned a law degree from Complutense University of Madrid. He works as an adviser for several cultural institutions, such as the Hispania Nostra Foundation. The Duke of Alba is in charge of the House of Alba Foundation and, thus, in principle of a great deal of the significant House of Alba heritage and patrimony.

On 13 June 1988, he married Matilde de Solis y Martinez de Campos{Source}. Together, they have two sons{Source}:


The couple was divorced in 2004{Source}. After his divorce, he maintained a friendly relationship with Alicia Koplowitz, 7th Marquise of Bellavista {Source}.
