Royal Profile: Princess Marie-Christine of Belgium

Princess Marie-Christine Daphné Astrid Elisabeth Léopoldine of Belgium was born 6 February 1951, the elder daughter of King Leopold III & Princess Lilian in Laeken, Belgium. Her godparents were:

  • King Baudouin I (her elder half brother)
  • Infanta Maria Cristina of Spain

When she was barely 9 years old, she received her 1st Holy Communion and Confirmation  in May 1962 {Source}.

She has been married several times. First, she married Paul Drucker in May 1981, and it lasted on 40 days, although they weren't formally divorced until 1985. Her second marriage was to   Jean-Paul Gourges in 1989.  Presently, she resides in California with her second husband.

Of all of King Albert II's family, his younger sister has to be the most controversial. She has previously made claims of being raped and beaten, and has lived a jet-set life. When she was a guest in a Belgian Embassy abroad, Marie-Christine refused to drink to her brother Baudouin saying "He is not my King". In 1993, when her brother Baudouin I died, she did not attend the funeral. On 17 April 2007, in a rare interview, she said “abolishing the monarchy might prove to be of benefit to Belgium”{Source}. The princess did not attend the funeral of her brother Alexander in December 2009.

Royal Profile: Princess Marie of Denmark

Marie Agathe Odile Cavallier (aka Princess Marie of Denmark) was born 6 February 1976 in Paris, France, the only child of Alain Cavallier and Françoise Grassiot {Source}. Her parents divorced when she was young{Source}, and both remarried and gave Marie four younger half brothers{Source}. Upon her parents divorce, she moved to Geneva, Switzerland with her mother, where she attended Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil{Source}.

After obtaining her Bacclaurate from Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil, she attended Babson College, studying international relations and economics, however she never graduated from Babson. Instead, after a brief time at Babson, she transferred to a school in Geneva to study Economics, then transferred to Marymount Manhattan College, where she obtained a Bachelors of Arts.

After her university years, Marie worked in the field of public relations for Estée Lauder,and ING Numismatic Group SA, and other varying positions for companies such as DoubleClick Inc, Media Marketing, Reuters financial news agency Radianz, REInvest in Geneva, ING Numismatic Group SA.

Princess Marie speaks a variety of languages. Her native tongue is French. She also speaks Spanish, Italian, Danish and English.

She first came to media attention around 2005, when she was spotted vacationing with Prince Joachim. In 2007, she joined her prince and his family for the holiday season and for a skiing trip to Switzerland. It was announced in October of that year that she and Prince Joachim would marry. In May 2008, they were married. This is when Marie became Her Royal Highness Princess Marie of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat and a naturalized Danish citizen and member of the Church of Denmark (Just like her sister-in-law Crown Princess Mary had a few years earlier).

Princess Marie took her role as Princess of Denmark in stride, becoming a patron of many important organizations in Denmark after becoming a princess. So now she was a princess, a wife, a daughter, a stepdaughter, a half-sister, a niece, an aunt, a sister-in-law, a daughter-in-law, stepmother, what was left? Oh. Right. Motherhood. Princess Marie tackled that too in May of 2009, when she gave birth to her first child, Prince Henrik. In January 2012, she became a mother again, this time to a baby girl, Princess Athena.

Royal Profile: Princess Louise of Belgium

Princess Louise Sophie Mary of Belgium was born 6 February 2003, the first child of Prince Laurent and Princess Claire.

She was christened when she was 8 months old. Her godmothers were:

  • Princess Margaretha of Liechtenstein (her father's 1st cousin)
  • Ms. Marie-Claude Solvay

There was no mention of who her godfather was but some reports claim that her godfather was non-catholic Reza Pahlavi.

Her first communion was celebrated in 2011, and was attended by several members of the Belgian Royal Family, including her parents, grandparents  brothers, aunt and uncle Archducess Astrid & Archduke Lorenz, and their daughter, Princess Laetitia Maria (who was also 7 years old at this time), aunt and uncle The Duke & Duchess of Brabant with their children{Source}

In 2005, her parents brought home two young brothers for the little Princess, Prince Nicolas & Prince Aymeric. Because of the  absolute primogeniture, her brothers did not displace her in the Belgian line of succession. Presently, Princess Louise is 13th position for the Belgian throne.

She began attending a private school in Tervuren, before attending Lycee Francais. She also speaks French and is learning English in school {Source}

Because she is so young and so far down in the line of succession, she is primarily kept from the limelight. She is usually photographed with other family members at official family portrait photocall sessions, such as the summer {2008}and Christmas calls {Christmas 2006}

For her education, Princess Louise has attended
