Daniel St. George Chatto was born 22 April 1957 as Daniel Chatto St. George Sproule{Source}. He is the son of the late actor Thomas Chatto Sproule (stage name Thomas Chatto) and the theatrical agent Ros Chatto {Source}. He has one brother, James {Source} In 1987, using Deed poll, Chatto legally changed his name from Daniel Chatto St. George Sproule to Daniel St. George Chatto. At the same time, his mother, also using Deed Poll, abandoned her surname Sproule in favor of Chatto.{Source}.

He attended Bedales Boarding School {Source}.

Before marrying into the royal family, he was an actor, like his father. He appeared in several films throughout the 1980s. His most notable role is probably Charles & Diana: A Royal Love Story (1988, Prince Andrew){Source}.

He began a romance with Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones while working on Heat and Dust in India in 1983, in which he played a party guest and Lady Sarah was working in the wardrobe department {Source}. Fast forward to 14 July 1994, at St. Stephen Walbrook Church, where they were married. Together, they have two sons:
