Royal Profile: Princess Mako of Akishino

Princess Mako of Akishino was born 23 October 1991 as the eldest child of Fumihito, Prince Akishino & Kiko, Princess Akishino{Source}. She has two younger siblings{Source}:
 
  1. Princess Kako of Akishino (1994)
  2. Prince Hisahito of Akishino(2006)
 
 
She is the eldest granddaughter of the current Emperor and Empress of Japan.
 
 
She spent her educational years in Japan, Ireland and Scotland. She attended to her primary education at Gakushuin School. In August 2006, she spent two weeks in Austria during a school-sponsored homestay program during her summer holidays {Source}. In 2010, she attended University College Dublin, studying English {Source}. In 2012, she moved to Scotland, where she studied at the University of Edinburgh {Source}. In March 2014, she graduated with a degree in Art and Cultural Heritage from the International Christian University {Source}. She returned to the United Kingdom to study at the University of Leicester to obtain a graduate degree in museology in September 2014{Source}.
 
 
Like her mother, she can communicate in Japanese, English and Japanese Sign Language{Source}.
 
 
She began appearing at official functions in 2006. She first appeared with her father at a religious ceremony at the Ise of Shrine {Source}. In 2011, when she became of age in Japan, she was given the honor of Grand Cordon of the Order of the Precious Crown{Source}.
 
 
She was due to be married to Kei Komuro in 2018, but decided to postpone the marriage until 2020 {Source}. By law, will be required to give up her title Princess of Akishino and leave the Imperial Family of Japan{Source}.
