She grew up partially in Spain, and in The Netherlands. When she was 11 years old, her parents divorced, and she moved to The Netherlands with her mother and siblings, into her grandparents' home, later moving to a home nearby.
She attended university in The Netherlands, eventually earning a Cultural Anthropology degree from the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam and also studied interior architechture in The Hauge. Currently, she works as an interior decorator.
One of her godparents is her maternal aunt, Princess Beatrix of The Netherlands. She is a first cousin of the current monarch of The Netherlands, King Willem-Alexander.
She married on 22 September 2001 and divorced in November 2006 to Edwin Karel Willem de Roy van Zuydewijn {Source}. Her second marriage was to Tjalling Siebe ten Cate on 3 May 2008 {Source}.
