Royal Profile: Michael Tindall

Michael James Tindall was born 18 October 1978 as the son of Linda Shepherd Tindall and Philip Tindall{Source}.

Tindall was educated at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield, England {Source}. While studying, he worked in a fish and chip van {Source}.

His early passion was for rugby, brought on by attending games played by his father and uncles {Source}. At the age of 7, Mike was playing rugby himself as well {Source}. He would later go on to become England's rugby captain {Source}. During his education, he played for rugby teams at his schools {Source}. He even went on a 7 week tour of Australia for the sport {Source}. Upon graduation, he chose to defer attending Durham University in favor of having earned a spot on Bath's rugby squad {Source}. At the age of 20, he began his debut for England's national team, and three years later was part of the team that brought England home the Rugby World Cup from Australia {Source}. After many years with Bath's Rugby Club, he moved on to the Gliucester Rugby Club in 2005, where he is currently a player-coach {Source}.  In 2007, he received an MBE from the Queen for his sporting achievements{Source}. In 2012, Mike was selected for the Barbarians Squad on their short tour held in May 2012 against England {Source}. In late 2013, Tindall became a brand ambassador for online trading company UFXMarkets, where he appeared in a variety of advertising campaigns and was interviewed for the company's promotional video{Source}. Mr. Tindall began a coaching career in rugby starting with the amateur club Minchinhampton RFC, competing in Gloucester 2 in October 2014 {Source}. Through his work with the sport and their avid enthusiasm for the sport, he befriended his future brother-in-law, and two cousins in law, Peter Philips, Prince William and Prince Harry {Source}.  Reportedly, his pal Prince Harry introduced Mike to his future wife, Zara, while the royal cousins were visiting Sydney {Source}. After a few years of dating, The Princess Royal announced the engagement of her daughter and Mr. Tindall just before Christmas 2010{Source}. On 30 July 2011, the powerhouse couple were married in a ceremony in Scotland {Source}.

In 2008, while playing against Wales at Twickenham, he was seriously injured and spent 5 days in intensive care with a punctured lung and torn liver{Source}.His nose has been broken several times, and in 2018, he finally had surgery to correct the fractures {Source} {Source}.

Like his wife, he is active sports charity work. Since 2013, Tindall has been hosting a charity golf day annually called ISPS HANDA Mike Tindall Celebrity Golf Classic with people from different fields including rugby, golf and entertainment participating in it, that aims to raise funds for charities associated with helping with disabled persons and curing Parkinson's disease, or military personnel who are transitioning to civilian life {Source} Tindall is a principal patron of (both of which benefit from the Golf Classic mentioned above) :

After being invited to one of the programs by the organization Right To Play in Accra, Ghana in late 2015, he was announced as an Athlete Ambassador for the charity's UK branch {Source}. In January 2018, Mike participated in And They're Off! in aid of Sport Relief{Source}. Just last month, September 2018, he and his wife took part in, along with 100 other riders on the first leg to of the Blue Marine Foundation's annual London-to-Monaco cycle ride{Source}. 

After several years of residing away from The Princess Royal, the royal duo moved into a property on the estate
