Alexander Patrick Gregers Richard Windsor, Earl of Ulster was born 24 October 1974, the only son of the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester {Source}. He has two sisters, Lady Davinia & Lady Rose{Source}.
At four months old, he was baptised {Source} with Prince Charles of Wales among his godparents.
He was educated at Eton College, King's College, London, and Sandhurst Military Academy {Source}.
In 1998, he became a 2nd Lieutenant in the service of the King's Royal Hussars {Source}, and was promoted to captain in 2002 {Source}. He also fought in the campaign in Kosovo in 2002 {Source}. In January 2003, he transferred from a short service commission to an Intermediate Regular Commission {Source}. In April 2008, he was appointed to the Reserve of Officers, and he went into retirement from the British Army as an Acting Major {Source}.
