Royal Profile:Clotilde, Princess of Venice and Piedmont

Clotilde, Princess of Venice and Piedmont was born 3 April 1969, the daughter of Jean-Claude Courau and Catherinedu Pontavice des Renardières. She has three sisters named Christiane, Camille, and Capucine Courau.

She began an acting career in the late 1980s/Early 1990s, and in the 1990s, she won numerous awards. She was nominated for a César for Most Promising Actress, and won an European Film Award for Best Actress for the film Le Petit Criminel (The Little Criminal,1990).In 1995 she won the Prix Suzanne Bianchetti at the SACD Awards. Other nominations for Césars included a best supporting actress nomination and Most Promising Actress nominations for Élisa (1996). She was also named as one of European cinema's Shooting Stars by European Film Promotion in 1998, and in 2000, she won the Prix Romy Schneider. She received the honor of being named Dame of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de France. She was also featured in the American film Deterrence.


Her engagement to the Prince of Savoy was announce in July 2003, and the wedding took place two months later in September, where she wore a Valentino gown and was 6 months pregnant {Source}. Her husband's best man was long-time friend, Prince Albert of Monaco{Source}.


Approximately 3 months after their wedding, Clotilde gave birth to the first of two biological daughters, Princess Vittoria. Three years later, Princess Vittoria was joined by her little sister, Princess Luisa {Source}. In 2011, she and her husband adopted two boys from an Italian orphanage in Kenya, Alan & Moses.
