Royal Profile: Countess Zaria van Oranje-Nassau, Jonkvrouw van Amsberg

Countess Joanna Zaria Nicoline Milou of Oranje-Nassau, Jonkvrouwe van Amsberg was born 18 June 2006 in London, England, the younger of the two daughters of Prince Friso and Princess Mabel of The Netherlands {Source}.

She is named:
  • Joanna: After her father
  • Zaria: The Slavonian goddess
  • Nicoline: Her maternal aunt and godmother
  • Milou: For Princess Marie Louise of Hesse-Kassel (or Hesse-Cassel) (1688–1765), the wife of Johan Willem Friso, Prince of Orange, the stadholder of Friesland

She was christened on 3 February 2007 at Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague. Her godparents are{Source}:
  1. King Willem-Alexander I (her paternal uncle)
  2. Prince Jaime of Bourbon-Parma (her father's 1st cousin, her 1st cousin 1x removed)
  3. Nicoline Wisse Smit (her maternal aunt)
  4. Ruben Ameling (friend of her parents)
  5. Maria Luz Luano (friend of her parents)
She resided in London with her parents and sister, until after her father's death in August 2012. I believe after her father died, her mother moved her and her sister to The Netherlands to live with their paternal grandmother, but I have no sources to confirm or deny this information. Having grown up in London, she likely speaks English, having a Dutch father, she likely speaks some Dutch, she also has a German grandfather, so she may also speak some German.

Due to her father not seeking parliamentary approval to marry her mother, she is not a member of the Dutch Royal House nor in line for the Dutch Throne.
