Royal Profile: Princess Kako of Akishino
Princess Kako of Akishino was born 29 December 1994 as the second daughter of Crown Prince Fumihito of Japan, Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko of Japan, Princess Akishino {Source}. She has an older sister and a younger brother, as well as a soon-to-be brother-in-law{Source}:
She has been educated in Japan and Ireland. She began her education at Gakushuin Primary School from 2001-2007. She began attending Gakushūin Girls' High School in 2007, graduating in 2012. In 2012, she attended Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. In 2013, she attended the entrance ceremony of Gakushūin University. In August 2014, she transferred to International Christian University. On 2 April 2015, she attended the entrance ceremony for International Christian University{Source}. Most recently, she followed her big sister to the United Kingdom to study at The University of Leeds in a Study Abroad Program, studying a combination of Performing Arts and Psychology honors {Source}
She began attending to royal duties at a young age. In August 2003, she, along with her parents and sister, attended the celebrations of Queen Sirikit's 72nd birthday attend the conferment ceremony of an honorary doctorate from Ubon Ratchathani University and for joint research on domesticated fowls{Source}.
As a child, she was active in figure skating and handicrafts {Source}. In 2007, she represented the Meijijingu Gaien Figure Skating Club and joined the Spring Cup Figure Skating Competition held by the Japan Skating Federation.Princess Kako ranked top in the Shinjuku division (Female Group B - Primary School Year Six or above){Source}.
For her birthday in 2014, like on all the other 20th birthdays in the Japanese Imperial Family, she was awarded the Order of the Precious Crown and donned a tiara for the first time in an official ceremony {Source}.
