Royal Profile: Princess Bhajara Kittiyabha of Thailand

Princess Bhajara Kittiyabha of Thailand was born 7 December 1978 as the only child of then-Crown Prince Maha Vajralongkorn (currently King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun) with Princess Soamsavali . She has five half brothers and a half sister:

  1. Prince Juthavachara Mahidol (1979)
  2. Prince Vacharaesorn Mahidol (1981)
  3. Prince Chakriwat Mahidol (1983)
  4. Prince Vatcharawee Mahidol(1985)
  5. Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana (1987)
  6. Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti(2005)



She was educated in Thailand, The United States, and England. She attended elementary and middle school at the Rajini School. For high school she moved to England, where she attended Heathfield School, Ascot and Chitralada School. For her university years, she returned to Thailand where she earned a bachelor's degree in Law at Thammasat University and a political science degree from Sukhothai Thammatirat University. She also earned a masters, and PhD, and J.S. D. degrees from Cornell University and Chicago-Kent College {Source}.


Upon competing her education, she began working at the Thai Permanent mission to the United Nations. In September 2006 she was appointed Attorney of the Office of the Attorney General in Bangkok, and was appointed to Office of the Attorney General of Udon Thani Province{Source}. In September 2012, she became the Thailand ambassador to Austria.

The eldest granddaughter of the previous Thai King also is very active in many charities. One of her primary focus is women who are incarcerated. She ran the "Kamlangjai" or "Inspire" project to reach out to Thai women in incarceration including pregnant inmates and their babies, and intends to assure that female and pregnant inmates are given adequate assistance to prepare them to reenter society upon release {Source}. She also worked on a project called "ELFI", "Enhancing lives of Female Inmates", which proposes new rules for the treatment of women prisoners and non-custodial measures for women offenders as a supplement to the 1955 Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners {Source}. She is also an active member of her mother's foundation, Princess Pa Foundation. She also serves as patron to the Vienna Ball Bangkok{Source}.
