Royal Profile: Princess Gabriella of Monaco, The Countess of Carladès

Princess Gabriella Thérèse Marie of Monaco, The Countess of Carladès was born 10 December 2014 as the first legitimate child of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco{Source}. She has two older paternal half siblings and a younger twin brother




For approximately two minutes of her life, she was her father's heir, had her brother been another daughter, she would be his heir{Source}. Her younger brother Jacques displaced her upon his birth two minutes after her birth{Source}.


She was baptized on 10 May 2015{Photos}. Her godparents were chosen by her mother, and were {Source}:

  • Garreth Wittstock (maternal uncle)
  • Nerine Pienaar (mother's friend)

Even though she is only five years old, she has had her share of royal appearances. In January 2015, her parents debuted her and her brother on the palace balcony{Photos}. In July 2015, they appeared with palace staff on the balcony during their father's 10 year anniversary celebrations {Photos}. In August 2015, they attended the annual picnic in Princesse Antoinette de Monaco Parc {Photos}. In November 2015, they attended their first National Day celebrations and the 2015 March for Climate {Photos}{Photos}. In 2016, she joined her parents and younger brother for a balcony appearance during Monaco's National Day celebrations {Photos}. In 2017, Princess Gabriella appeared with her family during Monaco's St. Devote ceremony, appeared with her parents during the 2017 Sainte-Devote Rugby tournament aiding the Princess Charlene Foundation, the annual pic-nic at Princesse Antoinette Parc, National Day's balcony appearance and a Monaco vs Chalon-Sur-Saône basketball game. In 2018, she and her brother attended their first International Circus Festival show with their dad, aunt and cousin Pauline, attended the St. Devote ceremony with their parents, joined Mummy and daddy for the International Rugby tournament Tournoi Sainte Devote, attended the Riviera Water Bike Challenge 2018, enjoyed a traditional community pic-nic at Princesse Antoinette Parc with their parents and members of the community, and of course provided some antics at National Day. In 2019, the royal twins attended Monaco's Circus Festival for the first time, joined their parents for the inauguration of the new Luxury complex the "One Monte - Carlo, the qualifiers for the Monaco Grand Prix and St. Devote Rugby Tournament, joined their father for Monaco's annual Television Festival, attended the annual Pic-Nic at Princess Antoinette Parc, and of course provided the antics at Monaco's National Day ceremonies (along side cousin Kiaia-Rose Wittstock)

At seven months old, Gabriella and her brother were trained by the South African Kiddies Aqua Swimming Academy to have water survival skills{Photos}.

  • Gabriella: A name her parents liked and thought was "charming"
  • Thérèse Marie: For the youngest child of her ancestor Honoré II or it could be for her great-great aunt Thérèse de Polignac and her great grandmother, Marie Juliette Louvett
