Royal Profile:Prince Louis of Luxembourg

Prince Louis Xavier Marie Guillaume of Luxembourg was born 3 August 1986 as the third son of the Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg{Source}.

He has two older brothers, as well as two younger siblings and two sisters-in-law, and a niece and nephew{Source}:

He began his education at School of Lorentzweiler{Source}. He also attended International School of Luxembourg{Source}. He attended boarding school at Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil in Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland{Source}. The Prince speaks Luxembourgish, French, English and German and also has very good knowledge of Spanish{Source}.


During his studies in Switzerland, the Prince has developed a special interest for social and humanitarian works {Source}. He participated in a mission led by an NGO cooperating with his school in Bombay, India{Source}. In this context, he gave English lessons to children in the poorest neighborhoods as well as street children{Source}.


In September 2006, he married Tessy Antony, she was granted the title Princess of Luxembourg on Luxembourg's National Day (June 23) in 2009{Source} Upon his marriage, he gave up his succession rights to the throne{Source}. Together, they have two children{Source}:


The young family resided in England, where both Prince Louis and Princess Tessy were students. Prince Louis and Tessy divorced in 2017 {Source}


In May 2014, Prince Louis graduated from Richmond, The American International University in London with a BA in Art in Communications. Prince Louis wrote his undergraduate dissertation on humanitarian advertisement. Prince Louis currently works in the field of social corporate responsibilities.

Although no longer in line for the throne, he is active in the affairs of Luxembourg. He has been patron of Federation of Luxembourg Table Tennis since 2004{Source}. He is patron of The Martial Arts Federation since 2010 {Source} He is patron of the Federation Aéronautique Luxembourg since 2011{Source}. He also holds the Order of the Golden Lion of the House of Nassau, which he received in 2004{Source}. He is also a recipient of the Grand Cross of the Order of Adolphe de Nassau

Like his siblings, he is an active sportsman, often alpine skiing, snowboarding, mountain climbing, biking and scuba diving{Source}.
