Royal Profile: Princess Isabella of Denmark

Princess Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe of Denmark was born 21 April 2007, the second child and oldest daughter of the Crown Princely Couple of Denmark. She is the eldest granddaughter of Queen Margarethe and Prince Henrik, and their fourth grandchild. After her father and older brother, she is presently third in line for the Danish throne. She also has two younger siblings, Prince Vincent & Princess Josephine.

The infant Princess' birth coincided with the 60th anniversary of the ascension to the Danish throne of her great-grandfather, Frederick IX. She shares her birthday with third cousin-twice removed,Queen Elizabeth II.

Isabella's christening took place on 1 July 2007, at the chapel of Fredensborg Palace. She wore the same christening gown her older brother, Prince Christian, had worn at his christening the year before and that Glücksborg princes and princesses in the main line had worn since the christening of Christian X in 1870. Her name was announced as:
  •  Isabella: for the Danish Queen-Consort, Isabella of Austria

  •  Ingrid: for her paternal great-grandmother
  •  Margrethe: for her grandmother

  • Peter Heering (family friend)
  • Marie Louise Skeel (family friend)

She began to slowly attend school in the 2008-2009 school year, where she would visit Queen Louise's Children's House, the same day nursery her older brother Prince Christian attended to become accustomed to it before attending it as an actual pupil {Source}. In January 2011, she began attending Garrison Parish Ward Kindergarten as it was more convenient for her parents (the school is a five minute walk from their home). As of August 2013, she began attending the same school her brother attends, Tranegård School{Source}.

She may only be six years old, but she's already done a few royal tours, performed several royal duties and has several royal honors. Barely 6 months old, she accompanied her parents to promote Denmark's "Creative Nation" initiative in September 2007 {Source}. In 2009, her grandmother started her medal collection to commemorate her grandfather's 75th Birthday. In 2010, she was a recipient of the Commemorative Medal to mark her grandmother's 70th birthday. In 2012, she was a recipient of the Commemorative medal to mark her grandmother's Ruby Jubilee.  She has attended the family's annual photo shoots since birth (2007, 2008,2011, 2012, 2013).
