Royal Profile: Princess Beatrice of York

Princess Beatrice Elizabeth Mary of York was born 8 August 1988, as the elder of the two daughters of the Duke and Duchess of York {Source}. She has one sister, Princess Eugenie{Source}.

She was christened on 20 December 1988 at Chapel Royal at St. James Palace with the following as godparents {Source}:
  1. David Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linely (her paternal 1st cousin 1x removed)
  2. The Duchess of Roxburghe (now Lady Jane Dawnay)
  3. Peter Palumbo (friend of her parents)

She attended a variety of schools throughout the United Kingdom. She began her education at Upton House School, before moving on to Coworth Park School and finally off to St. George's School, Ascot{Source}. She obtained A-Levels in Drama, History, and Film Studies in 2007{Source}.From 2007-2008, she took a gap year where she partied in Thailand with a group of friends {Source}, visited with her mother and boyfriend in the United States (where they were both residing at the time) {Source}, worked as a personal shopper in Selfridges, and visited Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Belgium and Switzerland {Source}
In September 2008, she resumed her studies at Goldsmiths College, London, where she obtained a 2:1 degree in History and History of Ideas in 2011{Source}.

Princess Beatrice is also active in charity work. She is patron of several organizations{Source}:

In April 2010, she became the first member of the Royal Family to complete the London Marathon, running with friends to raise money as part of ‘Team Caterpillar’, which supported a number of charities{Source}.


In addition to her numerous charitable efforts and duties as part of the British Royal Family, she spent time working full time in finance{Source}. Since summer 2014, she has moved on from the financial end of business to a general business job{Source}. The Princess does not receive any money from the tax payers or civil list, however, her father does pay for her and her sister's shared 4 bedroom apartment at St. James Palace and their security team.
