Royal Profile: The Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones

The Lady Margarita Elizabeth Rose Alleyne Armstrong-Jones was born 14 May 2002 as the only daughter of The 2nd Earl of Snowdon and The Countess of Snowdon, as well as the only granddaughter of Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon and Antony Armstrong-Jones, Earl of Snowdon {Source}.

She is named for various relatives:
  • Margarita: the Greek form of her paternal grandmother, The Princess Margret's name
  • Elizabeth: For her great-aunt and her great-grandmother
  • Rose: a name selected by her brother Charles (also note-Rose was also her grandmother's second name)
  • Alleyne: For her mother
At her birth in 2002, she was 13th in line, but with the births of Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, James, Viscount Sevren, Prince George of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, Prince Louis of Cambridge, Savannah and Isla Philips and Mia & Lena Tindall, she is presently in 21st place to succeed the throne {Source}.

The Hon. Margarita Armstrong-Jones has had her time in the spotlight over the years. According to a December 2006 article in the Daily Telegraph, Margarita was photographed sitting on the luggage rack of her father's bicycle in rush hour traffic. In 2010, alongside her 3rd cousin Eloise Taylor, she participated in a children's fashion show in aid of Kids Company {Source}. In February 2011, she was announced to be following in her aunt, The Lady Sarah Chatto's footsteps as a bridesmaid for a wedding of a future King for the April 2011 wedding of Prince William of Wales to Miss Catherine Middleton{Photos}. Other than this she has kept a fairly low profile. However, she has made the occasional appearances at family memorial services (for Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret in 2012, Thanksgiving Services for the Queen's Diamond Jubliee in 2012), the annual Christmas morning church services and pre-Christmas luncheon (2006, 2007, 2013), Trooping of Colour (2010, 2011), The Braemar Highland Gathering (2012).

Margarita attended Garden House School in Turks Row, Chelsea, London {Source}. In the 2016-2017 school year, she transferred to Tudor Hall School in Banbury {Source}. She now attends St. Mary's School, Ascot {Source}, which is reportedly where The Lady Louise Moutbatten-Windsor also attends a few years behind.

She was born as The Hon. Margarita Armstrong-Jones, but with the death of her grandfather in 2017, she became The Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones.
