On 24 July 2010 Prince Pieter-Christiaan was made a Knight of the Order of Saint John in the Netherlands.


His childhood was spent at an estate nearthe Het Loo Palace. He attended to his primary educations in The Netherlands. After graduation, he began a career in the military. His military career began with enlisting in the Royal Marechaussee, where he remains a Reserve Lieutenant Colonel today. He also managed to find time to undertake a degree in LL. M. in Law at Utrecht University, which he earned in 1999.In 2003, he successfully completed a MBA in Internation Institute for Manage Development. Begining in 2004, he started working as a marketing strategist for the ICT-company Shopservices. In September 2004, he became a Lieutenant Colonel at the Operations Department of the Central Office of the Royal Marechaussee.

From 2000-2003, he resided in London and worked for Equity Capital Markets.

He married Anita van Eijk in a civil ceremony on 25 August 2005 in a religious ceremony on 27 August 2005. Since he did not seek parliamentary approval for his marriage, due to the remote chance of his succession to the throne, Pieter-Christiaan lost his place in the succession to the Dutch throne when he married Anita. Together, they have two children:
