Royal Profile: HRH Princess Isabella of Denmark

Princess Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe of Denmark was born 21 April 2007, the second child and oldest daughter of the Crown Princely Couple of Denmark. She is the eldest granddaughter of Queen Margarethe and Prince Henrik, and their fourth grandchild. After her father and older brother, she is presently third in line for the Danish throne.

The infant Princess' birth coincided with the 60th anniversary of the ascension to the Danish throne of her great-grandfather, Frederick IX. She shares her birthday with third cousin-twice removed, Queen Elizabeth II.

Isabella's christening took place on 1 July 2007, at the chapel of Fredensborg Palace. She wore the same christening gown her older brother, Prince Christian, had worn at his christening the year before and that Glücksborg princes and princesses in the main line had worn since the christening of Christian X in 1870. Her name was announced as Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe. Her godparents are The Duchess of Brabant, Princess Alexia of Greece and Denmark, Nadine Johnston, Christian Buchwald, Peter Heering and Marie Louise Skeel.

She was named for Isabella for the queen-consort of King Christian II, Henrietta for her late maternal grandmother, Ingrid for her paternal great grandmother and Margrethe for her paternal grandmother.

She began to slowly attend school in the 2008-2009 school year, where she would visit Queen Louise's Children's House, the same day nursery her older brother Prince Christian attended to become accustomed to it before attending it as an actual pupil. In January 2011, she began attending  Garrison Parish Ward Kindergarten as it was more convenient for her parents (the school is a five minute walk from their home).
