Diamond Jubilee Tour: The Earl & Countess of Wessex visit Canda

Day 1 (September 11)

They arrived in Ottawa, Canada. The Earl and Countess will began their two-day visit to Ottawa at Rideau Hall, where they were hosted by Governor General David Johnston and his wife, Sharon {Source}.

That evening, Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex addressed members of the Royal Victorian Order Association of Canada {Source}.

Day 2 (September 12)

The royal couple  toured the 1812 exhibition at the Canadian War Museum and then view riding demonstrations at the RCMP Musical Ride Centre {Source}.Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, arrived in Iqaluit Wednesday night. It’s the first royal visit to Iqaluit in 10 years {Source}.


Day 3 (September 13)

The Royals attended an RCMP awards ceremony at the legislative assembly{Source}. During the ceremony, Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex, gave out Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Long Service medals and Commander’s Commendation awards to 14 RCMP officers{Source}.
Then they took a tour of the newly rebuilt St. Jude's Anglican Cathedral and have tea{Source}.Then they attended a reception at the Nunatta Sunakkutaangiit Museum followed by a community feast at St. Jude’s Parish Hall {Source}.On Friday morning, the countess will tour the nursing program at Nunavut Arctic College{Source}.

Day 4 (September 14)

The Earl and Countess of Wessex joined an Elders Nature Walk and Lunch in the Sylvia Grinnell Park. The Earl of Wessex visited the Canadian Forces at Sylvia Grinnell Park.  Sophie, The Countess of Wessex attended the presentation of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medals at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival {Photos}.

Day 5 (September 15)

Today, the Earl and Countess of Wessex attended to their numerous military appointments in Canada. Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex attended a Breakfast Meeting with 8 Wing, Royal Canadian Air Force before touring the facilities. The Queen's youngest son also attended the 150th anniversary celebrations of the  Royal Hamilton Light Infantry with a Trooping of the Colour ceremony at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Mount Hope {Source}.
In the evening he attended  a Canadian Army Working Dinner with the Minister of National Defense.  
The Countess of Wessex paid a visit to the Niagara College Teaching Winery and attend a Reception afterward in her honor {Source}.


Day 6 (September 16)

The Earl and Countess of Wessex attended the Aboriginal Celebrations at St. Marie Among the Hurons, in Ontario, Canada. They also attended the Divine Service and Parish Reception at St. James on the Lines Anglican Church, 200 Church Street, Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada.

Day 7 (September 17)

In the morning, the royal pair attended a service at St. James-on-the-Lines Anglican Church, where Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex  read Proverbs 1:20 - 33 to the congregation in the 175-year-old garrison church, while more parishioners watched the live feed in the hall across the road {Source}.

Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex attended many events involving his role as a trustee of the International Committee for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. First he attended a Breakfast Meeting at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel for the Young Canadian's Challenge Charter for Business. After breakfast, the Prince attended a Recruiting Event at TD Bank Tower. He also attended a Young Fellows Reception at Bymark Restaurant and a Community Showcase and Reception for Young People who have reached the Gold Standard of the Award, and an International Donor Meeting  at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. The Earl of Wessex was later joined by The Countess of Wessex for dinner as part of Prince Edward's role as Honorary Chairman, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Young Canadian's Challenge Charter for Business.

While her husband was busy with the Duke of Edinburgh Awards during the day, the Countess of Wessex didn't just lounge around! She attended a Diamond Jubilee Community Volunteer Roundtable Lunch and a 'Roots of Empathy' Event at Market Lane Primary School prior to meeting up with her husband for dinner with the people from The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Young Canadian's Challenge Charter for Business.

Day 8 (September 18)

The Royal pair boarded their flight home to the UK and their awaiting children.
