Royal Profile:Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway

Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway was born on 3 December 2005 as youngest child of Crown Prince Haakon & Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway {Source}. He has two older siblings{Source}:
The young prince was christened on 4 March 2006, with the following as his godparents{Source}:

The youngest child of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit began attending kindergarten (similar to pre-school in the US) in 2007{Source}. In 2011, he began attended Jansløkka elementary school, where he is in his third year {Source}.


As he is not a King, Crown Prince or heir's heir (like his sister), he is not considered as a member of the Royal House, therefore is styled as His Highness Prince of Norway, rather than His Royal Highness{Source}.


Prince Magunus as he is known, was likely named:

  • Sverre: for Sverre of Norway, who ruled Norway from 1184-1102
  • Magnus: For seven previous Norwegian kings, and its also his father's middle name.

As a member of the Norwegian Crown Princely Family, Prince Sverre Magnus (or Magnus as his family calls him) has appeared at numerous royal events. He first attended Norway's National Day in 2009, where the entire family appeared in tradition costume. Also in 2009 he attended the Norwegian Football Cup Final. In 2010, he attended the The World Cup Nordic And Ski Jumping, National Day and Pinchcliffe Grand Prix. In 2011, he attended National Dayand the The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. So far, in 2012, he's attended the Opening of Global Shapers Oslo, National Day, celebrations marking his grandparent's 75th birthdays and various London 2012 Olympics events.
