Princess Olga of Hanover and Cumberland was the youngest daughter of Ernest Augustus, Crown Prince of Hanover (1845–1923) and Princess Thyra of Denmark. Princess Olga of Hanover and Cumberland died five months before Princess Olga Sophie was born.

Princess Olga Sophie's life mirrors her namesakes in several ways. Like her great aunt, Princess Olga Sophie is currently unmarried-her great aunt never married or had children. Both Olgas grew up in Germany. Both Olgas are the 4th child in her immediate families.

Currently, Princess Olga resides at Calenberg Castle, an estate owned by the Hannover dynasty in Germany.
