Royal Profile: Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, The Duchess of Calabria, The Duchess of Palermo

Princess Maria Carolina Chantal Edoarda Beatrice Januaria, The Hereditary Princess of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, The Duchess of Calabria, The Duchess of Palermo was born 23 June 2003 as the eldest daughter of The Duke and Duchess of Castro {Source}. The little Princess is the 1st member of the Royal Family to be born in Italy since her great-great-great grandfather, King Francis II. She has one younger sister{Source}:
She was baptized in Italy, and her godparents were:
  • Prince Laurent of Belgium (family friend)
  • Prince Pierre d'Arenberg (family friend)
  • Anna Maria Pisanu (wife of the Italian Home Secretary Giuseppe Pisanu)
  • Ines Sastre (friend of her parents)
She was named for:

  • Maria Carolina: for Queen Maria Carolina of Naples & Sicily (her great x4 grandmother)
  • Chantal: for her paternal grandmother, Chantal, The Duchess of Castro, who died when she was two
  • Edorda: For her maternal grandmother, Edorarda Vessel
  • Beatrice: for her paternal aunt
  • Januaria: In honor of San Gennaro and for the Patorn Saint of Naples

She and her family currently reside in Monaco with their parents. It's likely they attend one of Monaco's private schools there.

In the last few years, she has made quite a few public appearances, mostly unofficially. She has a small role in film, Grace of Monaco {Source}. Along side her sister and parents, they attended the baptism of Prince Vincent & Princess Joesphine of Denmark {Photos}, her father was named as one of the twin's godfathers {Source}. In May 2012, again, along side her family, she attended the Planet Solar Ship Return Ceremony {Photos}. For her 9th birthday, the family visited Capri and then went to the family's former residence in Italy. In May 2016, her father abolished the Royal House's Salic Law (only permitting men to inherit) in favor of equal gender rights-effectively making Princess Maria Carolina his heir to the throne {Source}. However, the likelyhood that she will actually reign as a monarch is slim to none. As of 2016, she is officially styled:

Her Royal Highness Princess Maria Carolina Chantal Edoarda Beatrice Januaria, The Hereditary Princess of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, The Duchess of Calabria, The Duchess of Palermo
