Infanta Margarita María de la Victoria Esperanza Jacoba Felicidad Perpetua y Todos los Santos (et omnes Sancti) of Spain, Duchess of Soria, 2nd Duchess of Hernani was born on 6 March 1939 as the third child of Princess Maria de las Mercedes of Bourbon-Two Scilles, Countess of Barcelona and Infante Juan Carlos, Count of Barcelona {Source}. When her cousin, Manfredo de Bourbon, 1st Duke of Hernani died without any known heirs, he willed his ducal title to Infanta Margarita, of which her brother, then the Spanish king, granted this request upon Manfredo's death in 1979. Her brother also granted her the title Duchess of Soria.

In 1989, alongside her husband, they created the Fundación Cultural Duques de Soria (The Duke and Duchess of Soria Cultural Foundation). She's also Honorary President of Madrid's delegation of UNICEF and of the Spanish Heart Foundation..
