He attended the Santa Maria de los Rosales School until 1984{Source}. He completed his secondary education, made the last-equivalent school at University Orientation Course-in Lakefield College School in Canada course in 1985{Source}. From September 1985 to July 1988, he undertook military studies at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, where he served Pledge of Allegiance on October 11, 1985{Source}. He continued his military training at the Naval School of Marín and the General Air Academy in San Javier successively receiving in the month of July 1989 the offices of lieutenant of Infantry, Lieutenant Junior Grade and Lieutenant Aviation Weapon{Source}. In 1981, he received the Illustrious Order of the Golden Fleece {Source}. On his 18th birthday in 1986, he swore before parliement loyallty to the king, to faithfully perform funtions, observe and enforce the Constitution and laws, and rights of the citizens and the Autonomous Communities, assuming the fullness of its institutional role as successor to the Crown {Source}.
On 1 November 2003, his parents announced his engagement to commoner journalist, Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano {Source}. The religous ceremony took place on 22 May 2014 in Spain {Source}. Together, they have two daughters:
