Royal Profile: HRH Prince Louis of Luxembourg
Prince Louis Xavier Marie Guillaume of Luxembourg was born 3 August 1986, and is the third son of the Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg. He has two older brothers, a younger sister and brother- Guillaume, Felix, Alexandra and Sébastien.
He began his education at School of Lorentzweiler before moving on to the International School of Luxembourg; and Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil boarding school, in Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland.
The Prince speaks Luxembourgish, French, English and German and also has very good knowledge of Spanish.
During his studies in Switzerland, the Prince has developed a special interest for social and humanitarian works and participated in a mission led by an NGO cooperating with his school in Bombay, India. In this context, he gave English lessons to children in the poorest neighborhoods as well as street children.
In September 2006, he marred Tessy Antony, she was granted the title Princess of Luxembourg on Luxembourg's National Day (June 23)in 2009. Upon his marriage, he gave up his succession rights to the throne. Together, they have two children:
- Prince Gabriel (March 12, 2006)
- Prince Noah (September 21, 2007)
The young family resides in England, where both Prince Louis and Princess Tessy are students.
Although no longer in line for the throne, he is active in the affairs of Luxembourg. He has been patron of Federation of Luxembourg Table Tennis since 2004, The Martial Arts Federation since 2010 and the Federation Aéronautique Luxembourg since 2011. He also holds the Order of the Golden Lion of the House of Nassau, which he received in 2004.
Like his siblings, he is an active sportsman, often alpine skiing, snowboarding, mountain climbing, biking and scuba diving.
